Arsene Wenger heaps praise on Arsenal’s ‘influential’ Mesut Ozil

Arsene Wenger singles out Mesut Ozil for special praise after watching his Arsenal side beat Hull 3-1 on Monday

Arsene Wenger singled out Mesut Ozil for special praise after watching his Arsenal side beat Hull City 3-1 on Monday night.

The Germany playmaker featured for the whole 90 minutes as Wenger’s men secured a convincing victory over Steve Bruce’s side thanks to goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey.

Ozil has been in fine form in recent weeks and was voted Arsenal’s player of the month for April after a number of sparkling displays from the playmaker.

And Wenger was particularly delighted by the World Cup winner’s performance at the KC Stadium, before going on to praise the likes of Sanchez.

Wenger told Arsenal Player: “Mesut Ozil is developing fantastically well and had a fantastic game. Overall his influence was very strong.

“Alexis had one of his complete games. I like when he mixes his game up with the runs in behind and coming to the ball – he did that against Hull.

“I’m very happy [with the win] because it keeps our run going and overall I think we secured the top four. We now have an opportunity to go second now so we want to take it.

“We also want to continue to improve and develop as a team, and you could see that the focus is there to do it.”

Arsenal, who face Aston Villa in the FA Cup final later this month, take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Monday night.

The Gunners are currently third in the Premier League table but will finish second if they win their remaining four games.
