Chelsea star fires warning shot at Liverpool ahead of Stamford Bridge clash

Nemanja Matic insists that Chelsea will not be lacking any motivation against Liverpool this weekend

Nemanja Matic insists that Chelsea will be fired up for their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Sunday – despite clinching the title last weekend.

Matic helped Jose Mourinho’s men beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at Stamford Bridge to secure the top-flight crown with three games to spare.

Liverpool travel to west London on Sunday looking for a victory to keep alive their faint hopes of overtaking Manchester United to secure a top-four finish.

However, Chelsea midfielder Matic insists that Jose Mourinho’s men will be fully fired up against Brendan Rodgers’ men.

Matic told Chelsea’s website: “We will be prepared.

“Of course we don’t have the pressure of needing to win the league anymore, we are first whatever, but we will play seriously and try to enjoy the games we have left.

“We have done a great job this season and we want to carry on like that until the end.”

Matic has been a key figure in Chelsea’s Premier League title challenge this season, scoring one goal and making two assists in 33 top-flight games for the Blues.

Chelsea, who also won the League Cup in Mourinho’s second season back at the club, take on Liverpool, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland in their remaining three Premier League games.
