Nigel Owens has been named as referee for the Guinness PRO12 final between Munster and Glasgow Warriors on Saturday.

His 16th league match of the season will be a third final for the Welshman, who also took charge of last year’s final as the Warriors lost 34-12 to Leinster at the RDS Arena. His first final was in 2011 when Munster defeated Leinster at Thomond Park.

Owens will be joined by compatriots Ian Davies and Sean Brickell, who will run the lines, with Gwyn Morris and Wayne Davies at the fourth and fifth assistant.

Former international referee Derek Bevan is the Television Match Official with Italy’s Stefano Marrama as the citing commissioner.

Owens was the man in charge for the last two matches contested by the two clubs in Ireland with Munster winning 22-10 at Irish Independent Park in Cork back in February, with the Warriors coming out on top 22-5 at Thomond Park in Limerick 13 months ago.

The Warriors have lost five of their last nine matches officiated by Owens in the PRO12 over the last three seasons, while Munster have won five of 10 with two draws during the same period.
