Hull 1 Arsenal 3: Player ratings as Alexis Sanchez shines

Player rating as Alexis Sanchez inspires Arsenal to a 3-1 Premier League win at Hull City

Hull City

Steve Harper Unfortunate in conceding the first two first-half goals, with deflections playing their part. His midfield left him exposed to Arsenal’s pace as Sanchez rounded the ex Newcastle stopper for his second goal. 5/10

Michael Dawson Unlucky in deflecting Alexis Sanchez’s free kick past a helpless Harper. Struggled to cope with Arsenal’s pace for the most part. 5

James Chester Like many of his team-mates, Chester struggled to handle the pace of Arsenal as they pressed incessantly. 5

Paul McShane Worked tirelessly for his side’s cause, one of the few Hull players who looked up for a fight. 7

Jake Livemore Off the pace by some distance, picked up a yellow and was replaced by David Meyler at half time. 3

Tom Huddlestone Lucky not be booked on a couple of occasions. Lacking the quality his side could have used. 5

Stephen Quinn Pulled a goal back with a brilliant header, even if there was a suspicion of offside in the process. Replaced by Jelavic with 10 minutes to go. 6

Ahmed Elmohamady Unable to make a real difference with his side trailing tried to cause problems down the right flank all evening to no real avail. 5

Sone Aluko Short of pace. Outclassed by the Arsenal midfield. 6

Robbie Brady Tried hard to keep Aaron Ramsey under wraps but saw his sliding block force the ball to loop over Harper’s head and into the net. 5

Dame N’Doye Wasn’t often involved and struggled to keep tabs on the Arsenal attack. Failed to make a difference. 5

Substitutes

David Meyler Hull’s best player despite only playing a half. Was everywhere for his side and perhaps should have started. 7

Nikica Jelavic N/A

Arsenal

David Ospina Could do nothing to prevent the Hull goal and was hardly tested throughout looked confident in the air for the most part. 6

Laurent Koscielny Had little to deal with from the Hull attack, was disciplined in keeping his concentration up for the full 90. 6

Hector Bellerin Persisted down the right-hand side but was kept in check a fair bit. 5

Nacho Monreal Didn’t have a lot to do defensively but was more involved going forward. Lost possesion a couple of times. 5

Per Mertesacker A rock at the heart of the Arsenal defence. Dealt with everything that came his way and cleared with a steely determination. 7

Mesut Ozil Easy to forget the German international was on the field, such was his lack of impact. Outshone by Sanchez and Cazorla going forward. 4

Francis Coquelin One of Arsenal’s finds for the season, he has given the Gunners a bit of solidity at the rock of the midfield. 6

Santi Cazorla Played a brilliant through-ball for Sanchez’s second goal. Was lively in the midfield and had plenty to give going forward. 7

Aaron Ramsey Took his goal brilliantly and was everywhere until his he was replaced late on by Jack Wilshere. 8

Alexis Sanchez Absolutely sublime to put the result beyond doubt in the first half. First with his free-kick, which though lucky to be deflected, was still a great hit. His second was even better, latching onto a great ball from Cazorla to round Harper and fire in to complete the first-half dominance. 10

Olivier Giroud Quiet night for the Frenchman, not so much underwhelming, more so outshone by his peers. Replaced late on by Theo Walcott. 6

Substitutes

Jack Wilshere On for Ramsey, played brilliantly and looked sharp in his brief cameo. 7

Theo Walcott Replaced Giroud late on and didn’t quite look as sharp as Wilshere. Good to see him back after an injury plagued season. 4
