Hull 1 Arsenal 3: Three talking points as Alexis Sanchez sparkles

Three talking points as Arsenal beat Hull City 3-1 in the Premier League at the KC Stadium

Sublime Sanchez the difference for the visitors

Having had a brilliant first season in north London, Alexis Sanchez shone bright on a dull night at the KC stadium with a pair of brilliant goals. First with a magical free-kick that deflected off the wall passed Steve Harper. The former Barcelona winger has been a revelation at The Emirates and has been one of the signings of the season across all the sides. Despite his size, Sanchez’s pace and skill were on show on Monday night and he caused plenty of problems for the Hull players. The longer he stays in north London, the more he is likely to flourish.

Ramsey fires home to cap off brilliant first half for the Gunners

On a night where Hull were likely to be difficult to break down, Arsenal needed their midfield to step up and be counted. Aaron Ramsey did just that, keeping the ball well, holding it up and rounding off a brilliant performance in the opening 45 with a well-taken goal. Ramsey latched onto a great pass from Santi Cazorla before tying Robbie Brady in knots and striking low into the Hull defender causing the ball to loop over Steve Harper. Despite being replaced by Jack Wilshere in the second half, it was a near-vintage performance from Ramsey as he helped his side to their 48th point from a possible 54 in recent months.

Arsenal all but seal top-four spot, Hull face battle for safety

It was a night of contrasting emotions for the two sides after the 3-1 hammering Arsenal dished out. For Arsenal, the win all but seals their place in the Champions League for an 18th straight season by finishing in the top four. Hull, however, are just a point from safety, with fellow strugglers Sunderland having a game in hand over the Tigers. With Steve Bruce’s side still due to play Manchester United before the end of the season, they will need to get as much as they can out of their other two games, otherwise they will be facing next season in the Championship.
