Jamie Carragher: Why I’ve been so impressed by Arsenal

Jamie Carragher is backing Arsenal to challenge for the title next season

Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal are on course to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

The Gunners continued their fine recent run of form with a convincing 3-1 win over Hull City at the KC Stadium on Monday night to move to within three points of second-placed Manchester City.

Arsenal are the in-form team in the Premier League, with Arsene Wenger’s men having won nine of their last 10 Premier League games.

The north London side will finish second in the table if they win their remaining four games this season.

And former Liverpool defender Carragher feels that the Gunners have underlined their title credentials for next season with their recent run of form.

Speaking on Sky Sports after Monday’s win over Hull, Carragher said: “We say the same thing, they are close. Last year they got into the top four very late – this is different.

“What we’ve seen of Arsenal of late is that they are with the three best teams now, and then there’s a little level to Manchester United and Liverpool just behind.

“I think they’ve joined those top two sides that we think every season are going to go for the title. They’re so close.”

Arsenal, who face Aston Villa in the FA Cup final later this month, take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Monday night.
