Juan Mata congratulates Chelsea on title then issues Man United rallying cry
Juan Mata believes that Manchester United will be able to challenge for the Premier League title next season
Juan Mata has congratulated Chelsea on winning the Premier League title after Jose Mourinho’s men confirmed their status as champions on Sunday.
The Blues wrapped up a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace at Stamford Bridge on Sunday thanks to Eden Hazard’s first-half goal as they won their fourth Premier League crown.
Former Chelsea playmaker Mata was quick to pay tribute to his ex-team-mates after they wrapped up the title with three games to spare.
However, the Spaniard was also fast to underline his confidence that Manchester United can push for the title themselves next season.
Mata wrote on his blog: “Chelsea are officially the Premier League champions.
“I had congratulated my former team-mates already and I do it again: you have been the most consistent team this season.
“I hope the congratulations are to us the next year.”
Mata, who joined United from Chelsea back in January 2014, played the full 90 minutes as Louis van Gaal’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat by West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Red Devils, who are four points clear of fourth-placed Manchester United, have now lost their last three games in the top flight.
