Liverpool transfers: Asmir Begovic could seal summer move, says ex-Red
Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam reckons Liverpool target Asmir Begovic could leave this summer
Charlie Adam has hinted that Arsenal and Liverpool target Asmir Begovic could leave Stoke City in the summer transfer window.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international has been regularly linked with a move to one of the Premier League’s top-six clubs over the past 24 months.
Fresh speculation has suggested that Arsenal and Liverpool could be leading the race to sign the 27-year-old shot stopper at the end of the season.
Begovic has just over a year remaining on his current Stoke deal, and former Liverpool midfielder Adam believes his Potters team-mate is good enough for a top-four club.
“Yeah. He’s a top goalkeeper. All of those clubs have goalkeepers though,” Adam told talkSPORT.
“Wherever he goes, he has to make the right decision. He had the opportunity to go to Chelsea a number two a couple of years ago, and he refused that because he wants to play. It’s a big decision on where he goes.”
Begovic has been named the Stoke players’ player of the year for the past two seasons after he established himself as one of the Premier League’s best goalkeepers.
The Bosnian has made 171 appearances for Stoke in all competitions after the shot stopper completed a switch to Britannia Stadium from Portsmouth in 2009.
