Charlie Austin has inadvertently fuelled talk of a move to Liverpool after the Queens Park Rangers striker tweeted about the Reds’ Champions League win in 2005.

The Hoops forward has been heavily linked with a switch to the 18-time English champions in recent weeks, particularly in light of QPR’s relegation to The Championship.

Austin has scored 17 goals in 35 Premier League appearances in his first season in the top-flight, and PFA young player of the year Harry Kane is the only Englishman with a better record in the division.

The former Burnley forward appeared to be rewatching arguably the greatest-ever Champions League final between AC Milan and Liverpool in Istanbul in 2005 earlier on Monday afternoon.

Unsurprisingly, it prompted a host of Liverpool fans to tweet the QPR star, naturally asking whether his post was a cheeky hint at a possible move to Anfield.

But the 25-year-old appeared keen to stress his appreciation for the memorable final after the QPR man took to the social media site a couple of hours later.
