Man United legend admits concern about David De Gea
Phil Neville wants to see David De Gea sign a new contract at Manchester United this summer
Phil Neville admits that he is worried that David De Gea could leave Manchester United this summer.
The Spanish shot-stopper’s future has been a source of speculation in recent weeks amid reports that Real Madrid are keen on bringing the 24-year-old to the Bernabeu.
De Gea’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season, with United reported to be ready to offer the goalkeeper a bumper new contract in the coming weeks.
And former United defender Neville is keen to see the Red Devils tie up the Spain international’s future before the start of next season.
Neville told United’s website: “My biggest fear in the summer is David De Gea. I want him tied up on a long-term contract.
“He is the best developer I have seen for a number of years.
“From where is when he first signed to where he is now, the development and the improvement he has shown has been nothing short of incredible.”
De Gea was named as the goalkeeper in the PFA team of the year following his sparkling displays for the Red Devils.
The 24-year-old has made 35 appearances in the top flight for the Red Devils this term during Louis van Gaal’s first season in charge at Old Trafford.
