Manchester United could get Gareth Bale on the cheap if Real Madrid opt to sell the winger, Johnny Giles has claimed.

The Wales international has endured a miserable couple of months at Los Blancos, and Bale has been linked with a return to the Premier League in the summer transfer window.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester United come in for him if they can get him at the right price

The 25-year-old was targeted by Real Madrid supporters for the second time this season after the La Liga side lost 3-2 to Juventus on aggregate in the Champions League semi-finals.

Former United midfielder Giles believes Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and the Red Devils could all be in the running to sign the Welshman if Madrid opt to get rid of Bale.

Giles told Off The Ball: “If he isn’t doing his stuff at Real Madrid, which he isn’t doing at the moment, they might sell him on the cheap.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Manchester United come in for him if they can get him at the right price.

“Or Manchester City, if the FFP allows them. Maybe Arsenal could come into it if they got him at a certain price.”

Bale moved to Carlo Ancelotti’s side in a £85.3m deal from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
