Man United transfers: Graeme Souness tips Gareth Bale move
Graeme Souness believes Real Madrid could sell Gareth Bale amid Premier League interest
Graeme Souness believes there is a strong possibility Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale could seal a return to the Premier League this summer.
The Wales international has been heavily linked with a big-money move to Manchester United in recent weeks amid reports Bale is unhappy in the Spanish capital.
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti hit out at the Wales international’s agent on Tuesday after the representative claimed Bale’s Madrid team-mate weren’t passing to his client.
Former Liverpool captain Souness reckons Bale is struggling to survive in the Madrid environment following his £85.3m move to The Bernabeu in 2013.
“Bale was as responsible as anybody for Real Madrid winning the European Cup last season, but he’s had an indifferent time of it this year and they are now talking about sending him home,” Souness told Sky Sports.
“I think there’s a real chance that could happen and he could be back in the Premier League next year because the Real Madrid fans are not entirely happy with him this season.
“I don’t subscribe to the argument that the other players aren’t passing to him enough. To me, he doesn’t come across as the most confident boy in the world.
“That was my doubt about him going there. If you’re at a big club you’ve got to have a strong personality to survive and I think he is finding life difficult both on the pitch and in the dressing room right now.”
Bale, who scored in last season’s Champions League final, has scored 12 goals and made five assists in 25 La Liga appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s Madrid side this season.
Despite the Welshman’s slow start to life in the Spanish top flight, the former Tottenham winger has already scored 27 goals in just 52 league appearances.
