Man United transfers: Mauricio Pochettino quiet on Hugo Lloris rumours
Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is desperate to keep Manchester United target Hugo Lloris
Mauricio Pochettino has remained tight-lipped on “rumours” linking Hugo Lloris with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur this summer.
The France international is reportedly keen to play for a Champions League club next season with Spurs unlikely to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
Manchester United have been linked with a move for the former Lyon shot stopper amid growing uncertainty surrounding David De Gea’s future at Old Trafford.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference at Hotspur Way on Friday afternoon, Pochettino was keen to play down speculation surrounding his number one.
“I think [the report about Lloris] is a rumour and I do not have any comment,” Pochettino said.
“I do not want to speak about rumours, about Hugo or other players. We are focused and we try to finish the season as best as possible. That rumour is impossible to stop but we need to accept it is part of the game.
“In football it is difficult. You never know. If you sign the contract you never have the guarantee. I have a contract and so do a lot of managers but there is never guarantee.
“But it is true if I want some player to stay with us I fight a lot.”
Lloris has made 114 appearances for the north London side since his £12m move to Tottenham from Lyon in 2012.
The France captain is still waiting to win silverware with the Premier League side following his big-money switch.
The Spurs shot stopper was unable to prevent Chelsea from sealing a 2-0 victory over Pochettino’s side in the League Cup final earlier this season.
