Man United transfers: Memphis Depay perfect for England, says ex-Red
Stan Collymore is confident Manchester United signing Memphis Depay will prove Premier League hit
Stan Collymore believes Manchester United signing Memphis Depay won’t have any trouble settling in the Premier League.
The Red Devils confirmed that they have reached an agreement with PSV Eindhoven over the sale of Depay, with United reportedly set to pay £25m for the winger’s services.
The Netherlands international, whose move is pending the successful completion of his medical at Carrington, helped PSV end Ajax’s hold on the Eredivisie crown this season.
Former Liverpool forward Collymore is confident that Depay will prove a brilliant signing for Louis van Gaal.
Collymore wrote on his Twitter page: “Perfect for Prem. strong, quick, great feet. Can play any of wide or 10 positions. Only Q is step up from average Dutch league.”
The retired Aston Villa striker added that the United manager should start Depay in a right wing position to add much-needed pace to the Red Devils starting line-up.
Collymore added: “Would like to see him wide right initially for #MUFC, with Hererra/Mata and a revitalised Di Maria all to his left. Rooney up top.”
Depay scored 22 goals in 28 Eredivise appearances last season as the Dutch forward helped fire PSV to the Dutch top-flight crown last month.
