Man United transfers: Memphis Depay will be great signing, says ex-Red Devil
Former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbothm says Memphis Depay will add much-needed pace to the side
Memphis Depay is a great signing for Manchester United, according to Danny Higginbotham.
The Red Devils confirmed that they have reached an agreement with Eredivisie champions PSV Eindhoven for the sale of Depay on Thursday morning.
The Netherlands international is set to undergo a medical at the 20-time English champions before United complete their big-name signing of the summer.
Former Red Devils defender Higginbotham believes the 21-year-old will prove a big hit at Old Trafford, adding that Depay’s pace will be a vital commodity for United.
Higginbotham wrote on Twitter: “Depay would be a great signing for @ManUtd Great pace going forward is something that needs to be brought in this summer + goals”
The PSV star had been linked with a move to Arsenal and Liverpool in recent weeks, whilst Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain were thought to be chasing the Dutch star’s signature.
Depay scored 22 goals in 28 Eredivise appearances last season as the Dutch forward helped fire PSV to the Dutch top-flight crown last month.
The United signing played under current United boss Louis van Gaal at last summer’s World Cup in Brazil as the Dutch finished in third place in the tournament.
