Man United’s Ander Herrera inspired by Paul Scholes’ praise

Manchester United midfielder Ander Herrera says he is flattered by praise from Red Devils legend Paul Scholes

Ander Herrera says he wants to keep improving after the midfielder was praised by Manchester United legend Paul Scholes.

The Red Devils legend singled out the Spanish playmaker as one of the club’s most impressive signings following his £29m switch from Athletic Bilbao last summer.

Herrera scooped the club’s player of the month award for April after the 24-year-old scored twice against Aston Villa before the midfielder teed up Juan Mata in a 2-1 win at Anfield.

Speaking to the club’s website on Friday morning after his recent accolade, United midfielder Herrera gave his reaction to praise from the former Bilbao man.

“They were really, really great for me and I am very grateful,” Herrera told United’s website.

“I think Paul Scholes is maybe the best midfielder in Manchester United history so, when he says something like this, then I am very, very happy. I wish to keep improving, keep playing like this and I wish he can say it again in the next seasons.”

Herrera has scored five goals and has made four assists in 22 Premier League appearances for the 20-time English champions this term.

The Spain Under-21 international has racked up 1,509 minutes of top-flight action for Louis van Gaal’s side over the course of the season.
