Man United’s Louis van Gaal runs rule over ‘disappointing’ Angel di Maria
Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal discusses £59.7m record signing Angel di Maria
Louis van Gaal has admitted that he has been disappointed with Manchester United’s club-record signing Angel di Maria’s impact at Old Trafford this season.
The Argentina international was the biggest signing of the summer transfer window last year after he completed a British record £59.7m switch to United from Champions League holders Real Madrid.
The issue that he is not always in the line-up is for him a disappointment, but also for me a disappointment

However, Di Maria has consistently underwhelmed for Van Gaal’s side throughout the season and has struggled with injuries, making just 19 Premier League starts for the 20-time English champions.
United manager Van Gaal, whose side face West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday evening, was willing to accept that the 26-year-old hasn’t enjoyed a “marvellous” campaign.
“He cannot say that he has had a marvellous season here,” Van Gaal told the media at his pre-match news conference on Friday.
“Normally Di Maria should have played, but the last weeks he doesn’t play anymore and the team is winning. Now, we are losing, so the chance of him coming back is higher. It is always like that. It is never that it is not like that.
“The issue that he is not always in the line-up is for him a disappointment, but also for me a disappointment.”
Di Maria has scored three goals and has made 10 assists 25 Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this term.
The Argentine was unable to help United avoid a 3-0 defeat by Everton at Goodison Park last weekend.
