Man United’s Phil Jones delivers latest injury update
Phil Jones says that he is feeling fit and ready to return to action for Manchester United's first-team next weekend
Phil Jones says that he feels fit and ready to return to action for Manchester United when the Red Devils face Crystal Palace next weekend.
The 23-year-old defender has missed United’s last three games due to a knee injury but is now closing in on a return to first-team action.
Jones, who was on the bench as United slipped to a 1-0 defeat by West Brom on Saturday, played 62 minutes for United’s Under-21 side against Southampton at Leigh Sports Village on Monday night.
And the England international says that he is feeling ready to return to action for Louis van Gaal’s side as the Red Devils look to return to winning ways against Palace this weekend.
Speaking to MUTV, Jones said: “I’m happy to play in the Under-21s and get some fitness. The lads did well.
“I feel I’m ready to go again and hopefully I can make the squad on Saturday. Hopefully, I’ll recover on Tuesday, then train on Wednesday and Thursday, and see how it goes. I’ll take it from there.
“[As a team], we have got a long way to go as there are still three games coming up, three massive games, and we have got to approach it in the right way. I’m sure we can do that and cement that top-four finish.”
United have lost their last three games since Jones’ injury setback, as the Red Devils slumped to back-to-back defeats by Chelsea, Everton and West Brom.
United are currently fourth in the Premier League table.
