Paul Merson is backing Steven Gerrard to enjoy a successful Anfield send-off when Liverpool take on Crystal Palace on Saturday evening.

The Liverpool captain is set to lead out Brendan Rodgers’ men for the final time on Merseyside when the Eagles take on the Reds in this weekend’s clash.

ENHANCED ODDS: Get 10/1 on Gerrard to score any time!

The Reds can keep their faint hopes of snatching a top-four finish from Manchester United alive with victory over Alan Pardew’s men this weekend.

And former Arsenal man Merson is fully expecting to see Gerrard, who is set to join LA Galaxy after leaving his boyhood club this summer, inspire his side to victory over Palace.

Merson told Sky Sports: “I think Liverpool will win this game.

“Palace have hit a sort of sticky patch of late, although I thought that they were a bit unlucky against United last week. But I just think that this game is made for Steven Gerrard to get the first goal.”

Liverpool head into Saturday’s clash having only won five of their last 10 Premier League games.

The Reds are currently fifth in the Premier League table but six points behind fourth-placed Manchester United heading into their final two games of the campaign.
