Jamie Carragher has paid his own tribute to former team-mate Steven Gerrard ahead of the Liverpool captain’s final Anfield appearance.

The 34-year-old midfielder is set to line up in front of the Kop for the final time on Saturday afternoon as the Reds welcome Crystal Palace.

Gerrard will join Major League Soccer outfit LA Galaxy at the end of the season after having failed to agree a new contract with Liverpool earlier this season.

Former Liverpool centre-half Carragher is under no illusion that Gerrard is the club’s best-ever player judging by his Instagram post on Saturday morning.

Carragher posted the above photo and wrote the following caption: “Thank You.”

Carragher played alongside Gerrard for almost 15 seasons before the former England international hung up his boots at the end of the 2013 season.
