Jose Enrique can only dream about winning the Liverpool player of the year after an injury-plagued season for the defender.

The Spanish defender has endured a miserable campaign for the Merseyside outfit after having spent most of the season sidelined with a long-standing knee problem.

The Liverpool left-back has made just four Premier League appearances for the Merseyside outfit this season, racking up just over 200 minutes of first-team football.

However, Enrique was delighted to see his friend Philippe Coutinho scoop the Liverpool player of the year award after an impressive season for the Brazil international.

Enrique managed to get a snap with Coutinho following Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace on the Anfield pitch.

He wrote: “With the liverpool player of the year :)”

Coutinho has scored five goals and has made five assists in 33 Premier League appearances for the Merseyside outfit this season.
