Jamie Carragher could be swapping punditry for management very soon after the Liverpool legend kept Carlo Ancelotti’s seat warm in The Bernabeu on Wednesday night.

The former Reds defender was doing punditry on Real Madrid’s 1-1 draw with Serie A outfit Juventus for Sky Sports in the Spanish capital.

Los Blancos, who were the holders after their 4-1 extra-time victory over Atletico Madrid last season, crashed out of the competition 3-2 on aggregate.

Naturally, Madrid manager Ancelotti will be facing fresh speculation surrounding his future, and Carragher jokingly put himself forward on social media.

Carragher posted the above snap and wrote: “New Real Madrid manager!!”

Carragher won the Champions League in 2005 after Liverpool came from 3-0 behind to beat Ancelotti’s Milan side 4-2 in the penalty shootout.

The Italian coach has the last laugh, though, as i Rossoneri got their own back two years later with a 2-1 victory over Liverpool in the Athens final.
