David De Gea says he is hoping that his injury setback isn’t serious after the Manchester United goalkeeper was replaced during a 1-1 draw with Arsenal at Old Trafford on Sunday.

The Spain international was forced to come off in the 74th minute of the clash with a hamstring problem, which makes the Red Devils star a doubt for next weekend’s game against Hull.

De Gea, who was replaced by compatriot Victor Valdes, has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in recent months amid uncertainty surrounding his United future.

And the former Atletico Madrid shot stopper could have made his final appearance for the 13-time Premier League champions if Los Blancos do swoop for the goalkeeper in the summer.

De Gea posted the above photo and wrote on Instagram: “Thank you very much indeed for your support. You’re unbelievable. I hope the injury is not too serious. #MUFC”

The Spanish goalkeeper has been one of Louis van Gaal’s standout performers throughout the season, and he was nominated for the PFA player of the year award.
