Ray Parlour: Only Alexis Sanchez good enough for Arsenal Invincibles
Ray Parlour believes that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player good enough to make the Invincibles side
Ray Parlour has claimed that Alexis Sanchez is the only Arsenal player who would be good enough to get into the Gunners’ famous Invincibles side.
The Chile international has been one of the Premier League’s standout performers this season since his £35m transfer to the north London club from Barcelona last summer.
Sanchez has scored 20 goals in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s men so far this season in a sparkling debut campaign at Emirates Stadium.
And former Gunners midfielder Parlour, who was part of the Arsenal side that won the league without losing a game in the 2003-04 season, feels that Sanchez is the only member of Wenger’s side that would get into the unbeaten side.
Parlour told Carlsberg led ‘The Peoples Pundit’: “I don’t think the full-backs would be good enough. Lauren was a great underrated player, and Ashley Cole was fantastic.
“I really like Laurent Koscielny; he’s improved so much. I could maybe see him getting a game instead of Kolo Toure, alongside Sol Campbell. You could make an argument for that, anyway.
“In midfield, Vieira and Gilberto did a great job and Pires was a very good player. The only one I could really see getting in would be Sanchez, on the right side of midfield.
“As for up front, none of them would have any chance of replacing Bergkamp or Henry. Not a chance.
Arsenal, who face Aston Villa in the FA Cup final later this month, take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Monday night.
The Gunners will finish second in the table if they win their remaining four Premier League games.
