Rome Masters 2015: Andy Murray to decide on participation

British No1 Andy Murray is yet to make a decision on whether he will play at Rome Masters this week

Andy Murray says he will make a decision on his participation at the Rome Masters this evening.

The British No1 has been recovering from a gruelling 10 days after the 27-year-old won in titles in Madrid and Munich.

I don’t feel that tired right now in terms of sleepy tired, but I’m going to do some more moving this afternoon to see if my legs have recovered and decide after that

Murray, who also got married in April, beat nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal in straight sets in the Spanish capital on Sunday.

And the world number three revealed that he is yet to decide whether he will participate in Rome after his recent triumphant – but exhausting – run.

“I’m practising again this afternoon so I’ll decide this evening,” Murray said.

“It’s obviously been a long couple of weeks. I wanted to practise to see how my legs felt. Today I don’t feel that tired right now in terms of sleepy tired, but I’m going to do some more moving this afternoon to see if my legs have recovered and decide after that.”

The Scot, who has won 30 of his 35 matches in 2015 so far, finally tied the knot with his long-term girlfriend Kim Sears last month.

Speaking about the effect of marriage after nine straight wins on the ATP circuit, Murray accepted that a happy personal life helps his performances on the court.

“There’s a lot of things that go into performance, and one of those things is how you’re feeling away from the court that can have an impact on how you approach matches mentally. If you’re happy it helps your training,” Murray added.

“I’ve been happy with Kim for a long time, but getting married was nice step forward but you can’t just get married and not put in the work, you need to work extremely hard.

“I did that after the wedding for 10 days in over in Barcelona. It’s a combination of a lot of things.

“You’re personal life obviously has an impact on how you perform your job, that’s not just for athletes, that’s for everyone.”
