Arsenal held Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on Sunday to boost their chances of a top-three finish in the Premier League.

The Red Devils took the lead in the 30th minute at Old Trafford when Ander Herrera drilled home from close range.

United dominated proceedings in the first half but Arsenal improved after the break and the north London side equalised in the 82nd minute when substitute Theo Walcott’s cross was deflected in by Tyler Blackett.

The big game inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates.

Wayne Rooney posted the picture above on his Twitter account and wrote: “Match with my boys. Come on lads @ManUtd”

Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) is not impressed by the first half: “First time in 11 YEARS that Arsenal didn’t have a single shot in the 1st half of a Premier League game. #PROGRESS #IMPROVEMENT”

Team GB Hero and Arsenal supporter Mo Farah (@Mo_Farah) can’t hide his delight as the Gunners equaliser: “Yeeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!! #MUFCvAFC”

Gary Lineker (@GaryLineker) thinks Arsene Wenger needs to calm down on the touchline: “Steady on Arsene, I’m not sure there’s a trophy for finishing 3rd.”

Morgan (@piersmorgan) chimes in again after the equaliser: “BOOM! 1-1. Muchas gracias, Senor Valdes.”

Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright issues his backing for Walcott: “Gotta say that I think United should be very excited about Herrera. Whatever anyone says Theo’s gotta play because he will cause problems with his pace.”

And that just leaves former United man Alan Tonge (@Alan_Tonge) to have the final say: “Big improvements needed. Fantastic results against the higher teams, but some average ones elsewhere. Still 3/4 quality players short imo?”
