Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update after Hull victory
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reveals that Danny Welbeck has been suffering with a minor knee problem in recent days
Arsene Wenger has revealed that Danny Welbeck has been suffering with a minor knee injury in recent days after the striker sat out Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Hull City on Monday night.
The England international was not included in the north London side’s matchday squad as goals from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey handed Wenger’s men a convincing victory at the KC Stadium.
However, Wenger moved to play down fears about the forward’s fitness when addressing the media after Monday night’s victory.
Wenger told his post-match news conference: “It’s a question of days, it’s an inflamed knee.”
The Frenchman also revealed that midfielder Ramsey suffered a minor ankle injury during the win at Hull but that it does not appear to be too serious.
And Wenger was thrilled to see Jack Wilshere make his first appearance for Arsenal since November after coming on as a second-half substitute against the Tigers.
Wenger continued: “Jack Wilshere returned and had a good game in his 25 minutes so that is a big positive.
“Aaron Ramsey got a big kick and that is swollen but it should not be too bad.”
Arsenal take on Swansea City in their next Premier League game on Monday.
