Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update ahead of Swansea test
Arsene Wenger delivers fitness updates on Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck and Mathieu Debuchy ahead of Arsenal v Swansea
Arsene Wenger is hopeful that Aaron Ramsey will be back available in time for Arsenal’s clash with Swansea City at Emirates Stadium.
The Wales midfielder was substituted in the second half of the Gunners’ 3-1 win at Hull City on Monday night after picking up an ankle problem.
Wenger revealed that Ramsey has not trained with his first-team squad since Monday’s game but is expecting the 24-year-old to return to action in the coming days.
Speaking to Arsenal’s website on Thursday, Wenger said: “From the Hull match we had Ramsey who took a big kick, he is getting slowly better. He could be back in training soon.”
Wenger is also hoping that striker Danny Welbeck will return to training in the coming days after he sat out Monday’s win over the Tigers.
He said: “Welbeck is doing better but he is still not in training, he has missed now more than a week. There is no major damage but we have to see how it progresses over the next two or three days.”
Meanwhile, defender Mathieu Debuchy remains sidelined, along with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mikel Arteta.
Wenger added: “Debuchy is still out, he’s progressing but not available.
“Chamberlain is not available, Arteta will be short so it will basically be a similar squad [to the one that faced Hull].”
Arsenal will finish second in the Premier League table if they win their remaining four top-flight games. The Gunners have won nine out of their last 10 league clashes.
