Arsenal transfers: John Terry all but confirms Petr Cech move

Chelsea captain John Terry hints that Petr Cech is set to join Arsenal from Chelsea this summer

John Terry has all but confirmed that Petr Cech is set to join Arsenal from Chelsea this summer – and reckons the goalkeeper could save the Gunners “12 or 15 points a season”.

The shot-stopper has been heavily linked with a switch to Emirates Stadium in recent days after falling down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge last season.

Cech found his first-team opportunities with the Blues limited after Thibaut Courtois was installed as the club’s number one goalkeeper following his return from his loan spell at Atletico Madrid.

The 33-year-old is widely reported to be close to agreeing a transfer to Arsenal as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.

Now, Chelsea captain Terry appears to have all but accepted that Cech is set to make the move across London to join the Gunners.

Speaking to talkSPORT, Terry said: “There’s talk of Arsenal signing Petr Cech and, if they do get him, he will strengthen them for sure. He will save them 12 or 15 points a season.

“Petr was an unbelievable professional last year. When you get left out of the team it can be hard to accept but, when he came in [to the side], he was exceptional.

“He deserves a lot of credit for that. We understand he wants to play first-team football but nobody wants to see him leave the club.

“He’s going to be sorely missed and will improve any side he goes to.”

Cech was limited to just six Premier League starts for Chelsea last season following Courtois’ return from his loan spell.
