Arsenal transfers: Lorenzo Insigne’s Napoli future unclear, says agent
Arsenal target Lorenzo Insigne's future at Napoli is up in the air, according to the Italy striker's agent
Lorenzo Insigne’s future at Napoli is unclear amid reported interest from Arsenal, according to the striker’s agent.
The Italy international has been regularly linked with a switch to the Premier League over the past 12 month.
However, talk of the Gunners making a bid for the Napoli man failed to materilaise into an offer in the January transfer window.
But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger could be tempted to move for Insigne after the player’s agent Antonio Ottaiano asked Napoli to clarify his client’s future.
“His future is not certain,” Ottaiano told Corriere dello Sport.
“We’re waiting to get a sense of the club’s project and ambitions.
“Also, and this is fundamental, whether the player is still part of their plans. He feels neglected.”
He added: “It’s a very simple matter, we’ve been saying for months that we’re expecting a meeting with the club to understand what projects they have.
“Insigne wants to know his future in detail.”
Insigne scored two goals and made three assists 20 Serie A appearances for the Naples outfit last season.
However, the 24-year-old racked up just 13 starts in the Italian top-flight as he played a bit part role in Rafael Benitez’s side.
The Spanish coach has since taken over the reins at Real Madrid after having been linked with a return to former club Liverpool.
