Arteta and more: Twitter reacts after Arsenal sign Cech
Mikel Arteta and Lee Dixon take to Twitter after Arsenal sign goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea
Arsenal have completed the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea in a reported £11m deal.
The Czech Republic international has put pen to paper on a long-term deal after the shot stopper ended weeks of speculation linking the 33-year-old with a move to the FA Cup winners.
Unsurprisingly, Cech’s move across London prompted a flurry of tweets from the professionals, past and present, and here is a selection of our favourite posts.
Former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris (@morriskid) has nothing but respect for Cech despite his move to a direct rival: “Of course in ideal world as a Chels fan I’d rather @PetrCech didn’t join Arsenal, but after what he has done for us he deserves to be happy. He will definitely improve Arsenal that’s for sure…I wish him all the best!!”
England international Kieran Gibbs (@KieranGibbs) can’t wait to hear Cech barking instructions from the Arsenal goal: “Looking forward to playing with @PetrCech welcome to the team!!! @Arsenal”
Arsenal centre-half Calum Chambers (@CalumChambers95) will surely improve as a defender thanks to Cech’s wealth of experience: “Quality signing for us!! Welcome to the team @PetrCech 👊 looking good in the new shirt #WelcomeCech”
Gunners legend David Seaman (@thedavidseaman) asks the questions on everyone’s lips: “Cech is a great signing. Will it make the difference next season??”
And former Arsenal defender Lee Dixon (@LeeDixon2) sees similarities between Seaman and the new Gunners shot stopper: “Cech is a great signing. Reminds me of a young Dave Seaman!”
Finally, Gunners captain Mikel Arteta (@m8arteta) is thrilled with the £11m signing: “Delighted to welcome @PetrCech to @Arsenal, great signing!!”
