French Open 2015: Andy Murray ready for David Ferrer challenge
Andy Murray looks forward to his French Open quarter-final clash with David Ferrer
Andy Murray admits that he is set for a stern test of his French Open credentials when he takes on David Ferrer in the quarter-finals in Paris.
The Scot secured his spot in the last eight thanks to a 6-4 3-6 6-3 6-2 win over France’s Jeremy Chardy.
Murray will now take on Ferrer for a spot in the semi-finals in the French capital – and the 28-year-old is relishing the clash.
“David is a fantastic player on all of the surfaces,” said Murray. “Here he’s had his best results, I think. Out of all of the Majors, he obviously made the final here, he’s made some semis, as well. Obviously it will be a big test for me.”
He added: “I feel like I have a better understanding of how I need to play on this surface.
“Obviously the higher ranked players you play, the less opportunities they give you, the less mistakes they give you, especially in important moments.
“I’m going to have to work extremely hard in that match and be very patient and try to dictate the play as much as I can.”
