Harry Redknapp: Who Arsenal need to sign this summer
Harry Redknapp says Arsenal need at least two signings this summer
Harry Redknapp believes that Arsenal need at least two new signings this summer if they are to challenge for the Premier League title next season.
The Gunners have been heavily linked with moves for a number of big-name players in recent weeks as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad ahead of the 2015-16 campaign.
The north London side are thought to be close to securing a deal to bring Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech to the club as Wenger looks to add reinforcements to his rearguard.
Arsenal have also been linked with moves for the likes of Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling as Wenger considers adding to his attacking options at Emirates Stadium.
And although former Spurs boss Redknapp feels that Cech would be a top signing for the Gunners, he believes that Wenger should be looking to bring in at least one more striker ahead of next season.
Speaking in an interview with FourFourTwo, Redknapp said: “I don’t think the jigsaw is complete, I think they’re at least two players short. If they get two more signings… Cech is the first in the jigsaw. But for me, Cech – that’s a fantastic signing. He’ll give a presence to the team, he can be worth another seven or eight points this year. He can make such a difference.
“They need another striker. They can’t just go with one striker. [Olivier] Giroud on his day… They need another striker.”
