Juan Mata wants striker to stay at Man United beyond the summer
Juan Mata admits that he wants Javier Hernandez to stay at Manchester United beyond the summer
Juan Mata says that he is keen to see Javier Hernandez stay at Manchester United beyond the summer amid the speculation linking the Mexico man with a transfer away from Old Trafford.
Hernandez’s future at the club has been a source of speculation in recent weeks, with the striker set to return to Old Trafford following the conclusion of his loan spell at Real Madrid last season.
The Mexico striker scored eight goals in 31 appearances for Los Blancos during his temporary spell in Spain.
Hernandez has been touted as a possible target for Liverpool in recent weeks as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options at Anfield.
However, his Manchester United team-mate Mata is hoping that the striker will opt to stay at Old Trafford and fight for a first-team place under manager Louis van Gaal.
Mata is quoted as saying by Goal: “Chicharito still belongs to Manchester United and selfishly I’d like him to be with us.
“He has scored goals in every team he has played in and is a very smart striker.
“Chicharito is a great friend. When I arrived to Manchester he behaved great with me. He is a great person and a great professional. I’ve been lucky enough to share a dressing room with Chicharito, whom I admire.”
Hernandez is expected to hold talks with United about his future in the coming weeks.
