Liverpool transfers: Carlos Bacca’s agent confirms Reds interest
Carlos Bacca's agent says the Colombia striker is the subject of official interest from Liverpool this summer
Carlos Bacca’s agent has confirmed that Liverpool are among the clubs interested in signing the Sevilla striker this summer.
Bacca has been touted as a target for both Liverpool and Manchester United in recent weeks after scoring 28 goals in all competitions last season.
Liverpool are understood to be considering a bid for the Sevilla forward as Brendan Rodgers looks to bolster his attacking options at Anfield ahead of next season.
The 28-year-old, who is currently at the Copa America with Colombia, is believed to have a release clause in his contract worth around £21.5m.
And now, Bacca’s agent agent Sergio Barila has said that Liverpool have officially expressed an interest in signing his client during the summer transfer window.
“We have had lots of interest but so far there has been no official approach,” Barila told the Guardian.
“I spoke with Carlos on Wednesday night and we agreed we need a real solution. Clubs are telling him not to sign anything until they have made an offer but we are still waiting.
“Liverpool and another English club are among those that have shown an interest but there are also clubs in Italy. What is clear is that they must meet the release clause but at this stage nobody has.”
Earlier on this week, Sevilla sporting director Monchi has warned any potential suitors that the Spanish club have no intention of cashing in on the forward unless the release clause is met.
