Liverpool transfers: Former Reds star ponders Harry Kane signing

Former Liverpool midfielder David Thompson takes to Twitter to discuss Harry Kane's price tag

David Thompson has taken to Twitter to ponder whether Liverpool could tempt Tottenham Hotspur to sell Harry Kane with a £40m offer this summer.

The England international was one of the stars of the 2014/15 Premier League campaign after the Spurs striker scored 21 goals in 34 games.

Kane has been linked with a potential big-money move to Manchester United in recent weeks, although the 21-year-old emphasised that he was happy at White Hart Lane.

However, former Liverpool midfielder Thompson appeared to indicate that he felt Kane would be a good signing for Brendan Rodgers to bolster the club’s attacking options.

Kane was unable to prevent Gareth Southgate’s England Under-21 side suffering a 1-0 loss to Portugal in their European championship opener in Czech Republic on Thursday night.

The Tottenham striker scored 31 goals in 55 appearances in all competitions for Tottenham last season.

Spurs man Kane signed a new five-and-a-half year deal with the White Hart Lane outfit in February.
