Liverpool transfers: Roberto Firmino completes Anfield switch
Liverpool complete the signing of Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino subject to a medical following Copa America
Liverpool have completed the signing of Hoffenheim forward Roberto Firmino.
The Brazil international has agreed a long-term deal with the Merseyside outfit pending the successful completion of a medical.
The 23-year-old playmaker joins the 18-time English champions after a four-year stay at Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.
Firmino has scored 47 goals in 151 appearances in league and cup for the German club following his move from Figueirense in December 2010.
The new Liverpool signing is currently on international duty with the club’s player of the year Philippe Coutinho at the Copa America in Chile.
The South American has netted four goals in nine caps for A Selecao, including the winner against Venezula in their most-recent 2-1 win.
The Brazilian becomes Brendan Rodgers’s fourth signing of the summer but first non-English arrival at the five-time European champions.
The Liverpool manager has already snapped up Manchester City midfielder James Milner, Burnley striker Danny Ings and Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan.
