Man United transfers: No chance of Sergio Ramos move, says ex-defender
Rio Ferdinand claims that there is no chance Sergio Ramos could join Manchester United from Real Madrid this summer
Rio Ferdinand has claimed that there is no chance Sergio Ramos could join Manchester United from Real Madrid this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a big-money bid for the Spanish defender as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his rearguard ahead of his second season in charge at the club.
It has also been suggested that Ramos could be included as part of a deal which sees United goalkeeper David De Gea head to the Bernabeu.
However, former United defender Ferdinand has insisted that there is no chance Ramos could end up moving to Old Trafford, despite the intense speculation suggesting otherwise.
“Ramos to Manchester United? It ain’t happening. He ain’t going to Manchester United,” Ferdinand is quoted as saying by Goal.
“He’s at Real Madrid with, I think, a new contract coming up. Maybe the agent is putting [rumours] out saying he wants [to leave] so Real Madrid come back in with a bumper offer and he signs on the dotted line. Happy days.”
Ramos has won three La Liga titles, three Copa del Rey crowns and the Champions League.
The Real Madrid defender is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2017 unless the World Cup winner agrees a new deal with the 10-time European champions.
