Man United transfers: Ron Vlaar hints at Aston Villa exit
Ron Vlaar concedes that he does not know where he will be playing his football next season
Ron Vlaar has admitted that he does not know where he will play next season as he continues to be linked with a transfer to Manchester United.
The Netherlands international has been touted as a possible target for the Red Devils as Louis van Gaal looks to bolster his defensive options at Old Trafford ahead of his second season in charge of the club.
Southampton, Sunderland and Newcastle have also been touted as possible destinations for the centre-half as his future at Aston Villa continues to be a subject of speculation.
And the player himself, whose contract at Villa expires on 1 July, has now conceded that he does not know if he will still be playing at Villa next season as the speculation surrounding his future continues.
Vlaar told the Daily Mail: “I don’t know [where I will play next season].
“Even if I knew, I would not be able to tell you. But, the truth is that there is nothing going on right now. No idea about renewing with Aston Villa, but the truth is that nothing is confirmed.”
Vlaar played under Manchester United boss Van Gaal last summer as the Netherlands reached the semi-finals in Brazil.
