Marcos Rojo: Why Angel di Maria will shine for Man United next term

Marcos Rojo is sure that Angel di Maria will live up to his price-tag at Manchester United next season

Marcos Rojo is certain that Angel di Maria will come good at Manchester United next season despite the Argentina international’s stuttering start to life at Old Trafford.

The winger endured a stop-start first campaign in the Premier League after joining the Red Devils from Real Madrid in a club-record £59.7m deal last summer.

Di Maria only managed to score three goals and notch up 11 assists in the Premier League last season as Louis van Gaal’s men secured a fourth-placed finish in the top-flight.

His stuttering form has led to suggestions that he could be set to quit Old Trafford this summer, with Paris Saint-Germain reported to be interested in luring him to France.

However, United centre-half Rojo is sure that Di Maria will prove his worth to the Red Devils next season and claims that his international team-mate is the most talented player at the club.

Speaking in an interview with Goal, Rojo said: “For me, the player with the most talent at Manchester United is Angel.

“There are great players at the club, but Angel for me is one of the best in the team and in the world.

“It has been a difficult year for him. He had some problems adapting, but that’s normal. Any player coming to a new country and a new league has to adapt to the differences and that’s what happens. But I’m sure he will do really well in the months ahead.”

Rojo is currently on international duty with Di Maria at the Copa America.
