Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher is feeling nostalgic ahead of England's Under-21 game at European championship
Jamie Carragher is feeling nostalgic ahead of the start of the Under-21 European championship after he posted an old photo with Steven Gerrard and Jody Morris.
Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions side kick off their campaign in Czech Republic with their group opener against Portugal on Thursday afternoon.
Carragher, Gerrard and Morris were part of the Under-21 set up for a time before the former pair became full internationals.
And the retired Liverpool centre-half, who appears to be captaining the England side in his snap, uploaded the photo of the trio on the photo-sharing app.
Carragher wrote: “England U21’s play tonight so a picture from my U21’s days with @stevengerrard & Jody Morris. #tbtcaptain”
Of the trio, Gerrard went on to have the best England career after he was named Three Lions captain following John Terry’s demotion.
The soon-to-be LA Galaxy midfielder represented England at the World Cup in 2006, 2010 and 2014 as well as the European championships in 2000, 2004 and 2012.
Carragher, meanwhile, was part of the England squads for 2006 and 2010 World Cups.
