Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny reposts the club's welcome message despite Petr Cech being a direct rival

Wojciech Szczesny has endorsed Arsenal’s signing of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech on Instagram.

The Czech Republic international has penned a long-term deal with the north London side after Arsenal agreed an £11m deal with Chelsea.

Cech will provide Szczesny with increased competition for the FA Cup winners’s number one spot after David Ospina took the Pole’s starting spot last term.

But the 25-year-old shot stopper doesn’t appear to be fazed by the arrival after Szczesny reposted Arsenal’s welcome message for Cech on his Instagram page.

The Gunners shot stopper has made 185 appearances in all competitions over the past five seasons at Emirates Stadium.

The Poland goalkeeper helped Arsene Wenger’s side to win back-to-back FA Cup crowns in successive season in May.

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn told The Sport Review in a recent interview that Cech would help to improve Szczesny.

“It will be a good signing [with] the experience that he has got. We saw that last year even though he only played a few games,” Play With A Legend ambassador Winterburn told The Sport Review.

“He will push on the other goalkeepers there and they will realise the level that they have to achieve to become a top goalkeeper. He will be an excellent signing. He is a goalkeeper that isn’t really that old – he can play until he is 39 or 40.

“He can play for another good few years yet.”

Cech won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during an 11-year Blues career.
