Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere led their fellow Premier League stars in paying tribute to their dads on Father’s Day.

Social media sites Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were all awash with dedications to fathers from some of the world’s biggest sporting names yesterday.

Arsenal midfielder Wilshere, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City in recent weeks, snapped a selfie with his old man that he posted on Facebook.

Wilshere wrote: “And happy Father’s Day to the old man @andy_wilshere”

Wilshere’s Gunners team-mate Ramsey, who was part of the Wales side that beat Belgium in their most-recent Euro 2016 qualifier, uploaded a photo from his childhood with his dad.

Meanwhile, one of football’s most-recognisable faces, David Beckham, may be a father-of-four but the former Manchester United midfielder remembered to send a message to his dad.

Happy Father's Day dad… Thank you for all the support you have given me over the years… To all the dads around the world have an amazing day and enjoy being spoilt by your beautiful children

Finally, retired Wales international and BBC Sport pundit Robbie Savage posted a poignant message dedicated to his father, who died a number of years ago.
