Rio Ferdinand: Liverpool and Tottenham stars so overpriced

Former England defender Rio Ferdinand doesn't believe Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane are overpriced at £40m and £50m

Rio Ferdinand says Liverpool forward Raheem Sterling and Tottenham Hotspur striker are massively overpriced.

The Reds striker is being linked with a £40m move to Manchester City with Arsenal and Manchester United also thought to be interested in the want-away 20-year-old.

PFA young player of the year Kane, meanwhile, is a reported £50m target for United manager Louis van Gaal after the Spurs striker scored 21 goals in 34 Premier League games.

And former Red Devils defender Ferdinand believes the touted price tag for the coveted duo highlight how overpriced English talent is in the current transfer market.

Liverpool forward Sterling, who reportedly rejected a £100,000-a-week deal earlier this year, scored nine goals and made seven assists in 31 Premier League games last season.

Kane was one of the surprise packages of the 2014/15 campaign after the England man broke into Mauricio Pochettino’s side and went on to score 31 goals in all competitions.
