Ryan Giggs runs rule over Man United signing Memphis Depay
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs believes Memphis Depay will be a Red Devils hit
Ryan Giggs believes Manchester United signing Memphis Depay will be a massive hit the Red Devils supporters.
The Netherlands winger is set to join the 20-time English champions on 1 July after United agreed a deal with PSV Eindhoven to bring the 21-year-old to Old Trafford.
The Dutch star is the only signing that United manager Louis van Gaal has made in the summer transfer window so far despite being linked with a host of players.
And the 63-year-old boss’s number two, Giggs, is hoping that Depay can transfer his form in Eredivisie to the Premier League next term.
“[Depay] is the kind Old Trafford will warm to. He’s an exciting player, but there’s also substance behind it. He was top scorer in the Dutch league and got plenty of assists as well,” Depay told Daily Mail.
“He’s a “United” type. Our fans demand exciting players, players who can get them off their seats and score spectacular goals.”
Depay, 21, has earned a reputation for being one of the most exciting attacking talents in Europe in recent years.
The Dutch star scored 43 goals in 106 appearances for PSV Eindhoven during his time at PSV and helped them win the title this season, scoring 22 times.
The 21-year-old, who underwent a medical with the Red Devils in April ahead of his summer move, also played under Van Gaal at last year’s World Cup in Brazil.
