Stan Wawrinka believes that Novak Djokovic is the favourite to win this year’s Wimbledon title.
The newly-crowned French Open champion was asked to give his verdict ahead of the third Grand Slam of the year following his second-round exit at the Aegon Championships at Queen’s Club on Wednesday.
Asked about the favourites ahead of the tournament, Wawrinka said: “I put Novak, Roger [Federer] [and Andy] Murray in that order. For me, that’s the three favourites.”
Wawrinka was speaking to the media after a straight sets defeat by Kevin Anderson at Queen’s Club.
And the Swiss is planning to stay in London to fine-tune his game ahead of Wimbledon.
“I have to practice on grass,” he said. “I have many things to do, also. I’m going to stay in London and take that 10 days to work on my game and be ready for Wimbledon.”
