Thierry Henry hails Arsenal’s ‘amazing’ Mesut Ozil

Thierry Henry feels that Mesut Ozil can help Arsenal challenge for the Premier League title next season

Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Arsenal’s “amazing” Mesut Ozil, saying that the Germany playmaker is almost impossible to stop when he is at his best.

The World Cup winner enjoyed a successful second half of the season with the Gunners after missing an earlier portion of the campaign with a knee injury.

Ozil scored four goals and notched up five assists for the Gunners as Arsenal finished third in the Premier League table and qualified for the group stage of next season’s Champions League.

He also helped Arsene Wenger’s men defend their FA Cup title.

And Henry has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from the Germany international since he joined the north London club from Real Madrid in a club-record deal back in 2013.

“Mesut is a very good player, we all know about his quality, we all know about what he has done in the game,” Henry told Arsenal Player. “He is a world champion, you have to respect that and his vision on the pitch is tremendous.

“He is an amazing player. When he is on song like he was in the FA Cup final, he is difficult to stop.

“When you have the likes of Giroud in the box, Alexis Sanchez running at people and Theo too, Mesut can see a pass and control the game in the same way that Santi does.”

The Arsenal legend went on to underline his belief that the Gunners have what it takes to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

“I keep on mentioning players, all that we are waiting on is the consistency in the league,” he said. “I saw some of the players talking about that consistency, and I know they have the quality to do it.”
