Thierry Henry talks up reported Man United target Paul Pogba
Thierry Henry says Paul Pogba was ready to shine at Manchester United before he moved to Juventus
Thierry Henry believes that Paul Pogba is one of Europe’s most promising midfielders and says that the France international was ready to make an impact before being sold by Manchester United.
Pogba was allowed to leave the Red Devils to join Juventus in 2012 after being deemed surplus to requirements at Old Trafford by Sir Alex Ferguson.
The midfielder has been in fine form since joining the Serie A side and helped Juve win a league and cup double this season.
His fine form has inevitably seen him linked with a transfer away from Juventus, with Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain touted as possible targets for the midfielder.
Arsenal legend Henry is a keen admirer of Pogba and admits that he was surprised that United opted to let him leave the club to join Juve.
Henry told Goal: “He was ready to play at the time he left Manchester United. I don’t know what happened there, he was ready for me at that time.
“I saw him play in a World Cup with the France youth team and you could see already that he had something different from the other players.
“It didn’t work for him at United for various reasons but he showed character, he went to Juve and showed he could play. Now everybody wants him.”
The 22-year-old Pogba scored eight goals and made three assists in 26 Serie A appearances for Juve this season as they retained their league title.
