Thierry Henry: Why I love Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez

Thierry Henry believes that Alexis Sanchez can help to fire Arsenal to the Premier League title next season

Thierry Henry has heaped praise on Alexis Sanchez following the Chile international’s sparkling debut season at Arsenal.

The 26-year-old was one of the Premier League’s standout performers as hit the ground running in England following his £35m transfer to the north London club from Barcelona last summer.

Sanchez scored 24 goals in all competitions as Arsene Wenger’s men finished third in the Premier League and successfully defended their FA Cup title, with the forward netting in last month’s final against Aston Villa.

Arsenal legend Henry has been thoroughly impressed by what he has seen from Sanchez following his transfer last summer – and is hoping he can help fire the north London club to the title next season.

Henry told Arsenal Player: “If you’re an Arsenal fan, we were all waiting for that type of match-winner.

“Look at what he did in the FA Cup final and what he has been doing since his arrival. He has been more than tremendous.

“We want to see that more and more and I know that he has that in his locker. When you have a guy like Alexis Sanchez, it is the X-factor.

“He is the guy who can change the course of a game. I love the way he plays, he plays with his heart and I know the fans love that about him.

“As an Arsenal fan I am very excited about next season and hopefully we can bring some people to the club, some new players maybe but when you have a guy like Alexis Sanchez anything can happen. Hopefully he can fire us to the title next year.”

Sanchez is currently on international duty with Chile at the Copa America.

He was voted as the PFA fans’ player of the season last month following his eye-catching displays for the Gunners.
