Tottenham transfers: Nacer Chadli wants Toby Alderweireld signing
Tottenham Hotspur star Nacer Chadli encourages Spurs to launch a bid to sign full-back Toby Alderweireld
Nacer Chadli has urged Tottenham Hotspur to sign highly-rated Beglium defender Toby Alderweireld.
The Spurs forward is currently on international duty with the versatile full-back ahead of Belgium’s game against Wales in their Euro 2016 qualifier at Millennium Stadium on Friday night.
Alderweireld, who spent last season on loan at Southampton from Atletico Madrid last season, was a key part of the Saints defence that has conceded just 33 goals in 38 Premier League games last season.
And Chadli, who moved to White Hart Lane from FC Twente in 2013, talked up his compatriot’s qualities as the Spurs forward discussed the north London side’s potential move for the Belgian star.
“Yes, Toby [to join Tottenham] also he’s a very good player,” Chadli is quoted as saying by ESPN.
“He did very well with Southampton last season and still has a contract with Atletico.
“I don’t know if they [Atletico] attract him but hopefully he can make it.”
Alderweireld has scored one goal in 26 Premier League appearances this season, racking up 2,263 minutes of top-flight action.
The Belgium international has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur where his compatriot Jan Vertonghen is plying his trade, as well as former Ajax team-mate Christian Eriksen.
